I home school my 10 year old son and this is the best way I have found to really teach him the words. He remembers the meanings now and enjoys the learning process.

So far, my kids really enjoy this book; however, I wish it had more exercises for them to do. A great product , regardless.

I have a stubborn 8 year old boy (3rd grade). He does not want to read much. His vocabulary is limited. He has a wild imagination and a love of humor. We have only worked on chapter one. He learned 10 new words in 15 minutes and was tested 5 days later on them and scored 9/10. He enjoys acting out the illustrations as he finds them so humorous. He doesn't mind reading the accompanying sentence. He retains the main meaning of the word by recounting the funny image that accompanies the word. I have a smart child who seems disinterested in the process of learning. This no longer applies to vocabulary with the help of Vocabulary Cartoons.

Have used samples and just got the book yesterday. I am using this with a 13 year old with some language delays. He likes the cartoons, and I have pulled some vocabulary that is tied to literacy tasks. Looking forward to using the materials from Vocabulary Cartoons, Elementary.

My nine year old son - diagnosis regressive autism - has a difficult time understanding the meaning of words. He is a very visual thinker and this is also his best learning style. The cartoons in the book have vastly improved the amount of vocabulary his is able to learn! Very highly recommended for brilliant visual thinkers like my son!!

The first time I saw these books was in a friends 5th grade class. I wanted my own copy. These are GREAT, because of the cartoons(they make the words easy to visualize and remember). I like that you include part of speech and how the words can be pronounced. Add a new book to the elementary version. LOVE IT!!!

The mneumonic technique is extremely effective as the student is able to retain the definitions. In contrast, when a student is asked to memorize lists of words they forget the meanings. However, parents are unfortunately reluctant to purchase these types of books because it says cartoons. They immediately associate it as being too young and immature. I would highly recommend this book and others like it.

My fourth grade daughter got this several weeks ago and has just a few pages to go before she is finished! She absolutely loves it! I randomly chose a few words throughout the book to see if she was actually remembering the words, and she answered correctly each time. My other kids are too young to start the book, but I can't wait to see how they do! I am ordering the second book this week.

I use Vocabulary Cartoons with my 5th grade class and they love them. Most kids are visual learners and this is the first vocabulary program that gives a funny cartoon for every word. You know it is a good program when kids ask to learn more vocabulary.
